There are two types of finish for an exposed aggregate driveway and the construction process is the same for both.
Surface Dressed – this method is used to keep costs to a minimum and is popular on smaller projects such as garden paths and patios. The chosen decorative aggregate is pressed into the body of the recently poured concrete and creates a textured and decorative surface.
Washed To Expose – this method is used for heavy-duty applications such as driveways, garage forecourts and parking bays. The chosen decorative aggregate is incorporated within the concrete mix and is then exposed by jet washing or use of a stiff broom and hose. The aggregate is held within the poured concrete and creates a more durable surface with the same choice of colours and textures.
